Ace of Spades Revival Credits and Licences

Community skins and their authors

The weapon, character, tombstone and world-object skins in the game were made by community authors, most of them for OpenSpades and published on GameBanana. They are not the project's work and are not covered by the project's licence. Each one keeps the terms its author chose.

Most are under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0. That is why skins are never sold, why crates cannot be bought, and why every skin is listed here with its author, its licence and a link to where it was published. Sounds that came with a pack are credited to the same authors.

The full record for each item, including the original archive hash and the complete licence text, ships with the game in its cosmetics credits folder.

OpenSpades assets

Skin packs made for OpenSpades build on its base models, animations and scripts. Those are distributed under the OpenSpades Non-GPL Pak License, which allows redistribution only as part of a free, non-commercial, open-source project and does not allow the audio files to be redistributed on their own. OpenSpades itself is free software under the GNU General Public License version 3, by yvt and contributors.

The project's own code

The BattleSpades server and the BattleSpades client are written by the project and released under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later. Anyone may run, study, change and share them, as long as changed versions stay under the same licence and their source is offered to the people who use them, including over a network. Server releases up to 0.1.0-beta.1 were published under the MIT licence and stay under it.

Libraries the project uses keep their own licences. They are listed in the THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES file of each repository.

The original game, its maps and its artwork

Ace of Spades was created by Ben Aksoy and developed and published by Jagex. The game, its name, its maps, models, sounds, fonts, menus and artwork belong to their owners. This project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Jagex, Valve or the original developers, and claims no rights in any of it.

The client does not include the original game's files. It reads them from your own installed copy of Ace of Spades: Battle Builder. The server repository does include the stock map files and construction prefabs, because a server cannot run the original maps without them; they remain the property of their owners and are not covered by the project's licence. The same is true of the screenshots, menu artwork, fonts, map previews and base models shown on this site and in Skin Studio.

A rights holder who wants any of this material removed can ask through the Discord and it will be taken down.
